I was ridiculously excited when Sam and Clara asked me to photograph their wedding at Notley Abbey.
I love how Notley Abbey balances the old and new so effortlessly. I also adore that every nook and cranny is crammed with character. It’s a wedding photographer’s dream backdrop!
I like to rock up with plenty of time to spare on a wedding morning. I often use that time to take some photos of the venue. Sam and Clara got married in July and were blessed with the most beautiful summer’s day. Imagine big blue skies, fluffy white clouds, warm sunshine, birds singing, the river burbling, and the relaxing scent of lavender wafting up, as I brushed past with my camera … It was a delight to spend a quiet hour just wandering around the grounds, when I got there.
I just adore the bright coral and raspberry florals they chose to adorn their celebrations. I mean just take Clara’s sensational bouquet, which was filled with peonies, roses, and clematis to name a few. They really are show-stopping and look perfect against her divine lace gown. Wow!
The blossom, the tree-lined driveway, and the fairy lights in the Monks’ Refectory, all provided that amazing soft romantic feel to the day.
It was basically a dream and so filled with authenticity. Clara and Sam are absolutely made for one another.
Clara looked incredible in her dress, which suited her perfectly and THAT hair piece! She was perfectly whimsical and beautiful. And Sam looked pretty good too in his tweed. I always love it when couples really put their personality into the details.
We had so much fun throughout the day, especially during the two couple sessions we did, these guys rocked it and it was in no way difficult to picture them both together.
But by far, some of my favourite shots I captured would have to be from the Bridal prep, from Clara putting her shoes on, to the details of the wedding day. Just thinking about it gets me emotional. (See below)
All of their guests were in top form as well, we breezed through the group photos and I was treated to some lovely speeches and a great atmosphere while everyone celebrated this special day.
I can’t thank Clara and Sam enough for having me as their wedding photographer, I am never great with words but I really hope you both love this preview and I can’t wait to show you the rest.
